VIDEO TRANSCRIPT
Hi. My name is Stephanie and this video is meant to give you a little flavor of my personality and the style with which I do counseling.
I was once told, we go through life mishearing, misseeing and misunderstanding --so that the stories we tell ourselves add up.
Between the mishearing, misseeing and misunderstanding are opportunities to change our patterns. My work with clients is to seek those experiences, where we have the ability to change pattern and create a new story for ourselves.
I work both collaboratively and with art and skill based counseling to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
If you would like to know more about me, go ahead and read the rest of my bio and I look forward to hearing from you.
APPROACH & MORE ABOUT ME
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist who has devoted most of my experience to working with adolescents and their families supporting the transition from childhood to young adulthood for both parents and teens. I also work extensively with couples, both in supporting the parental relationship as well as strengthening parenting skills, as I have found that with the mounting stress in today's society, a strong home foundation improves the whole system.
I have worked extensively with youth and their families in group home and school settings, as well as in private practice. My therapeutic style tends to be more interactive, using Art Therapy invitations, Brief Therapy techniques, as well as Cognitive Behavioral skills.
I was a member of the MRI Brief Therapy Center in Palo Alto, CA, and was Founder and Director of PACTS, an at-risk youth and family clinic that utilizes the Brief Therapy model to provide therapeutic counseling to families facing ongoing risk factors in their communities.
I was told once that we go through life mis-seeing, mis-hearing and misunderstanding so that the stories we tell ourselves add up. In challenging times, from parenting, to relationship disagreements, to navigating through adolescence and young adulthood, our stories have the best chance of changing to be the story we want to move forward with because we are most aware of the negative outcomes of how that narrative speaks to us.
My goal as part of your support system, is to help you find the story that empowers you and then to help teach you the skills necessary to make that story stick. Through a variety of methods that include cognitive behavior techniques, art, and simple narration conversations, we will work together to make your story one that leads you down a path of emotional success and personal fulfillment.
